Wolf walked calmly on, his tail wagging contentedly back and forth. Good company, friendly people. What more could a wolf desire besides a pack of his own?

Wolf nodded at Shaitan's words. "I shall stay for a while then but i return to my own den for the night." He stretched a bit. He was tired though it did not show. It had been a long day with little sleep the night before. Insomnia was a thing that rarely plagued his kind but when it did, it could be a nuisance. A few days of it and it might affect him but, with only one night lost, thus far he was still well able to do as he pleased. Hell, he thought to himself, if i can run continuously for nearly two days i can surely go without sleep for a night or two with the easy living of this place.

As they reached the tent, Wolf slowed to allow the others to enter first, being polite.

Morpheus silently looked through the trees surrounding the clearing and gasped. An entire refugee camp sat before her eyes! She had been banished by the king like that other creatures like her, but had she known about some kind of refugee camp, she would have gladly forsaken the past few years roaming the forest to stay in the company of her own kind!
Something jerked at her nose, Loria! Uncertain as to what to do, Mo followed the scent until it led her to a black tent. She stopped and watched as a wolf let Loria and the killer, Shiatan walk in.
Morpheus swayed in indecision. If she attacked, she would be killed for sure, but it would certainly be worth it if it helped Loria escape. Making her decision, Morpheus let out a roar and pounced.

Loria smiled at Wolf as she walked past him, entering Shaitan's home. She felt a strange peace steal over her, and felt her mind become more at ease. But as she looked at Shaitan, she saw anxiousness, as if he didn't want to stay still for too long. This slightly puzzled her; who would want to leave such a nice place? Maybe he was too accustomed to the peace here. Then she heard Shaitan stumble, which reminded her of his injury. Of course! He was a fighter, a survivor and didn't like being out of action for too long. Still, he needed to let himself rest, no matter how much he didn't want to.

Suddenly, she heard a roar behind them and turned just in time to see a blue dragon the size of a large horse leap out at them. She saw that its eyes were locked onto Shaitan, who was in no shape to fight. Without having to think about it, Loria leaped up at the dragon at an angle, knocking off its intended path of travel. Hanging onto its neck with her arms and legs, she dug her heel into its windpipe and grabbed its horns. She held her grip no matter how much the dragon thrashed and bucked. Then, the dragon spoke to her in a strained voice, "Loria...let...go!" She knew that voice! Morpheus! Immediately she released her hold and jumped off of the dragon she had met, was it only earlier today? Or was it a lifetime ago?

"Morpheus! I'm so sorry! I didn't recognize you at first! Are you all right?" Loria made her way over to the friendly dragon, profusely appologising all the way. Finally she asked, "Why did you attack us? What are you doing here? How did you find us?"

Morph shook herself from Loria's unexpected attack and looked at her friend in confusion. "Why should I not attack? I saw you kidnapped, or tricked or whatever you want to call it, and I did what came naturally, curse or no curse. Wow, you must be taking some kind of warrior class or something because you never fought like that when we last met"
She looked at Loria's apologetic face and sighed, "Naturally, you did not recognize me, I would not have let you see me in my dragon form, it was too embarrassing at the time and your father would have banished me anyway, so I ran away. The urge to fly was too strong to resist after a while." She looked up and saw Shiatan and Wolf gazing at them in equal confusion, "I apologize if these are friends of yours, Loria, but I do not entirely regret my actions, for my intent was good, wasn't it?" she asked, a little uncertain.
Her words never did come out quite the way she wanted them to.

Wolf whirled at the roar with a growl of his own. His hair stood on end, making him about the same size as the dragon before him. His lips curled back, exposing his teeth in a ferocious expression. Frost snapped about his muzzle, the cool air that he breathed out fogging in the warmth of the day.

As he was about to attack the pouncing dragon, Loria leaped past him to attack the dragon herself and he was unable to use his breath weapon against it lest he greatly harm her fragile human form.

The fight stopped suddenly and Wolf looked on in slight confusion, his hackles still raised, his fur still bristling with tension. A low growl continued to rumble from his throat, his lip only partially lowered back over his teeth. He knew not who this dragon was, be it an enemy of the village or not, friend of Loria or not and its first actions had already put him on his guard against it.

His eyes never left the dragon, warily watching with unwavering attention. His feet were braced that he might leap at the first sign of another attack. His wolf instincts had more or less kicked in, this intruder among his 'pack' had need of proving herself or being approved of.

Wolf waited in uncertain silence.

For a few moments, Loria just stared in confusion at Morpheus who had been only trying to "save" her. What was the dragon talking about? Did she know Loria from somewhere, before today? She had mentioned her father, that he had banished her. Loria's father! Her heart stopped for a few beats; if Shaitan put two and two together, he might deduce that her father was the king, and she his daughter, the princess. Who knew what would happen if he found out. This dragon knew her as the princess, and didn't seem like she would to disguise that fact.

Her mind still whirling in confusion, she knew she had to talk to Morpheus alone. Before Wolf or Shaitan could make any commets, she quickly said, "Yes, your intent was good, thank you. You must be tired from your flight, there's a nice spot on the lake I saw on my way in where you can rest if you wish. Come with me, I'll show you. Please excuse us, gentlemen." Helping the dragon to her feet, Loria quickly led her to the spot on the lakeshore out of earshot of Shaitan's house. Making sure that they were alone and that no eavsdroppers lingered near, she began to explain the situation to Morpheus.

"First of all, I am here of my own free will and was by no means tricked or kidnapped. Shaitan means me no harm and guided me here, protecting me and warning me of the creatures and obstacles that guard this camp. Second," she lowered her voice to a whisper, "he doesn't know who I really am; he doesn't know that I am the princess. He thinks that I am a bodyguard for the royal family. I don't want him to find out right now, I will tell him in time. Third," she stood up and began to pace, "how did you know who I was? I don't remember you except from this morning when that Rex fellow appeared and woke me up. When have you ever met me? Who are you? How did you find me?What..." She stopped herself by biting her fist, knowing that a thousand questions would pour out of her mouth and she'd still have no answers.

Morpheus stared at Loria in shock. She had never seen her so, so, what was the word? She almost seemed afraid!
Shifting to her human form, Morpheus looked at Loria for a moment in quiet. Then she spoke, "I am sorry that I judged your friends so quickly, Loria." she said, "And that I put you in such danger. I didn't mean to do that, I guess I was acting on sheer instinct again. As for your questions, I have known you since childhood, but you probably don't remember me, it was so long ago. Perhaps you remember my real name..." Morpheus hesitated, not quite wanting anyone else to know, "Lady Regan? I don't know if that rings any bells, it's been so long. I found you because I was following an urgent instinct. Dragon Sight, I'm sure you have experienced it before..."
Morpheus had no idea how to explain herself. This was as awkward situation that she had no idea how to adapt to. She had really messed things up this time, how could she be so stupid?

Having sensed the dragon's approach, Shaitan had already shifted his feet and tail to gain balance, ready to tear it to ribbons. But when Loria stopped the creature, he felt a slight pang of confusion and regret. He had wanted to fight, and the boiling tension inside of him was growing stronger. The small dragon seemed to have been aiming for him, and it possibly would've had its chance. It also appeared to be rather annoying and familiar. Oh, right, earlier in the day. How he hated sudden meetings and retreats. . . .

Those in the camp had drawn their weapons at the sound of the reptile's roar, but when they received a daring glare from Shaitan to back off, they resumed normal activities, though talk about the event was talked about plentifully, he was sure.

"Stupid dragon," he mumbled, not caring if he himself was part dragon. He certainly didn't classify himself with either humans or dragons.

With little effort, he turned himself around and went into the tent, leaving Loria to speak with her "friend". That newcomer was no guest. Loria was one only because he led her here. "Just keep your senses on guard, Snowball," he said with a small smirk in Wolf's direction, when he noticed he was still tense. "That thing's of no concern to us."

I'll be paying close attention to you both. Bring anything down on this camp, and I swear you'll live the most horrible life no one could ever even imagine. He told himself that in all seriousness, knowing he wouldn't hesitate to kill someone for bringing harm to this village. But, Loria. . . . He didn't know about her. Part of him wanted to accept her, but part of him said to kill her and get rid of her for good, that she was just trouble.

Now it was Loria's turn to stare at her friend in shock. Regan? Could it be? She thought about it, and all of a sudden, a memory burst into her mind:

"Come on Loria, go out there and dance." A little girl tugged on her arm, trying to pull her out from behind one of the pillars in the huge ballroom at the palace.

But she wouldn't budge. "No! That fat duke over there would squash me! Besides, I can't dance like the grown-ups, I'd just look silly."

"But you ran all the way from that giant tree to the stream without tripping on a single root or rock! And you can climb trees higher than I can. If you can do all that, dancing will be easy."

"But I'm not graceful like you. My mother says that you're a perfect little lady, that you can sit right, and eat right, and curtsy so well and..."

"Well, if you're so scared, then I'll go out there myself." With that, her friend let go of her hand and glided onto the dance floor, twirling and stepping just as gracefully as any of the ladies there. The dancers turned to look at the tiny figure and smiled. Soon, they had formed a ring around little Regan, who danced as if she was they only person in the world. After a while, Regan's father walked into the ring and bowed to his daughter, who curtsied perfectly in return. Then the two took each other's hands and began to dance. Everyone smiled even more at the sight of those two: the father and his daughter, whose head barely came up to his waist.
Loria looked on, wishing she could be as graceful and elegant as her friend. She wanted to be out there, and could even feel herself swaying in time to the music. As her friend twirled past, she found Loria's face in the crowd and smiled.

Right there the memory froze; Loria could still see that little girl's features almost perfectly reflected in the face of the person who stood in front of her now. "It is you!" she gasped, hardly believing what she was seeing. "But...how...Dragon Sight?" Finally coming back to the present, Loria found that there was something she didn't understand. Pacing once again, she answered Regan's, or Morpheus's, question, "Yes, I have experienced Dragon Sight, but only in my dragon form. Except, only a little while ago, I saw with Dragon Sight, and I don't know why!" Pausing for a moment, she then asked, "How can you see with Dragon Sight? No, wait, how did you become a dragon? And a shapeshifting one, no less. What happened to you?" Loria made herself sit down on a flat rock next to her friend.

Morpheus smiled, glad her friend finally remembered her, "Such a question would be natural" she commented, "You probably remember the ball at which I begged you to dance, but you kept refusing. I ended up dancing with my father later that night. Well, not long afterwards, I went to the edge of the forest and attempted to climb a tree with the speed and agility that seems to come naturally to you. Well, I fell and landed on an elderly woman, knocking her over. I apologized repeatedly and helped her to her feet. She looked at me apologetically and explained that she was an enchantress, that the Code that her kind lived by required that she punish me for causing her harm, but since I had apologized, she would make it an easy punishment. That, if I mastered it, it would become more of a blessing than a curse"
Morpheus shuddered as she remembered the feeling of the curse lighting upon her being, "I transformed every time I experienced an extreme emotion. It got to the point that I could not bear it any longer, I was so ashamed of what I transformed into, especially since the decree seperating the human beings from the enchanted folk, so I ran away and lived near the edge of the forest." Morpheus shrugged as she ended her story, although there was a torment of emotions rampaging through her body, causing her form to shiver a little and her eyes to become reptilian for a split moment before returning to their original form. "Perhaps we are to be reunited for a purpose? I do not understand why else we could have seen the same place at this point in time. then again I could be wrong. Who knows what strange coincidences happen on a day to day bases?"

"Just keep your senses on guard, Snowball." Wolf heard Shaitan say from behind him as he watched Loria and the newcomer. He could hear the smirk in his voice as the sound of his footsteps faded in the direction of his tent. "That thing's of no concern to us."

Wolf snorted lightly then moved off to speak with someone a short distance away, his eyes still warily on the newcomer. He would take no chances. He didn't know this newcomer, either of them for that matter if truth be told, from the fish in the bottom of a stream. A little bit about them, perhaps, by type and observation, but little more than that.

Anyone who knew him well could see that his back was stiff despite the deceptive softness of his thick fur and the calm of his voice. He forced his tail to move slowly in a show of calm content. Trying not to seem as though he were watching them as closely as he was.

"Yes, who knows." She had never realized what her friend had gone through for all those years, or why she had just seemed to have vanished. But then again, eventually all of her friends vanished. Until now. She saw the shudder go through Regan, and put a comforting hand on her friend's arm. Loria wanted to tell Regan the story behind her curse, but decided to wait until she had time to figure everything out. Instead, she said, "I wish I had been as fortunate as you, my friend, for my curse can't be mastered. I've tried, but no matter what, every day at sundown I become a dragon, and every day at sunrise I change back."

After a moment of understanding silence, Loria remembered one Regan's earlier comments. "Do you remember Master Lo? The Silver Wolf? Well, he has been teaching me to fight over the years. I hold the rank of Mid Star," she said, pointing to a large blue star which had one smaller graystar above and below it on her uniform over her heart. "He mostly keeps to the Mid Star Complex nowadays, since he's not allowed in the palace anymore." Sighing wistfully, "I wish he was here now. I think he might've liked it here."
